Bon Iver - “Come Talk To Me” (Peter Gabriel cover) (from “Flume / Come Talk To Me”)
In 2009, Peter Gabriel released a cover album called “Scratch My Back.” He covered artists such as Arcade Fire, David Bowie, Elbow, and Bon Iver, among others. In return, most (if not all) of those artists covered Peter on a release he called “I’ll Scratch Yours.”
Peter covered Bon Iver’s “Flume,” so the favor was returned when Bon Iver covered “Come Talk To Me.” I can’t help but love Justin Vernon’s take on “Come Talk To Me,” a song Peter wrote for his daughter when she was little. This is how covers should be done, ya’ll.
Who WOULDN’T want to cover Peter? He’s the fucking MAN!

Ellie Goulding - “Wolves” (Bon Iver cover)
Bon Iver’s “For Emma, Forever Ago” was one of my favorite albums of 2008. Recently I stumbled across a cover of “Wolves” by Ellie Goulding. I reallllllly dig it.
I woke up to this Twitter post:
Fever Ray reinterprets Peter Gabriel’s “Mercy Street.” Hear it: http://bit.ly/a4He7M
As many people know, I pretty much love anything Peter Gabriel has ever done, not to mention the fact that “Mercy Street” is my favorite track of his. So I was a bit hesitant to give this cover a listen. I’m glad I gave it a try because it’s amazing and kind of reminds me of The Knife.
Elbow did a pretty cover of “Mercy Street” that came out sounding much like the original, which gains zero complaints from me. David Byrne covered “I Don’t Remember,” which turned out rather different from the original but in a way that works wonderfully.
On a related note, Bon Iver’s cover of Peter’s “Come Talk To Me” is by far one of the best covers I’ve ever heard.
Sometimes I feel like a giddy little kid on Christmas morning when artists I like cover other artists I adore.
